The W+OCP Graduate School Applications Workshop

(Our application season has now closed)

Students

Applications are now CLOSED for the October 2023 workshop! Decisions will be sent in late August.

Are you a W+OC who is considering applying to graduate school in a STEM field in fall 2023 or 2024? We will hold a free, three-day, in-person workshop at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, USA on October 6-8, 2023! The workshop is dedicated to providing our accepted students with the tools they need to successfully apply to top US graduate programs, as well as providing networking events with other successful W+OC in STEM. Travel costs and lodging are provided!

Past participants have said that this workshop was among the most supportive experiences of their science career and that the workshop helped them in concrete ways in the application process and beyond. All you need to apply is to answer a few questions about yourself and an optional CV. We encourage anyone who is considering graduate school to apply!

Applications are due on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 11:59pm EDT.

For any questions or concerns, please contact us at applications@thewocproject.org.

You are also always welcome to check out our FREE resources from previous workshops, and our Youtube channel + Twitter for previous workshop recordings!

About the Graduate School Applications Workshop for URM Women+

The Women+ of Color Project Graduate School Workshop for URM Women+ is an event providing full access to a select number of black and indigenous women+ of color students who are preparing to apply to graduate school in STEM fields. This includes members of the African diaspora, Latinx, Indigenous, and Native American communities. Our goal is to help these students improve their graduate school application package and provide them with the tips necessary to succeed in graduate school and beyond.

Additionally, we consistently share our free resources with the general public to increase access to important information about graduate school to all individuals and communities in need. We strongly support ALL efforts toward equity in higher education.

Our workshops have a packed schedule consisting of panels, presentations, and networking and mentorship events intended inform students about the graduate school application process, and also cover the nuances of applying to graduate school as a woman+ of color. We also discuss life in graduate school as well as provide students with practical information to navigate challenges and thrive during their graduate school journey.

We gratefully acknowledge support from the Heising-Simons Foundation (HSF), Harvard Center for Integrated Quantum Materials (CIQM), the Harvard Culture Lab Innovation Fund (HCLIF), and the Elsevier Agents of Change Award.
